GPS Newbie question

Hello everyone,

Great website and forum! I've just recently been introduced to mappoint and I have it connected to my garmin etrex. After playing around with various freeware/shareware apps I haven't been able to find a utility to export my waypoints into Mappoint, or vice versa. Is there a simple utility that allows this I haven't found? Or some sort of FAQ? Thanks!

Rob

GPSBabel ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/gpsbabel ) is a command line driven tool can export waypoints from Garmin GPS receiver to an CSV file that can be imported into MP. An alternative is to use Coordinate Exchange ( http://www.hypercubed.com/projects/coordex/ ). CoordEx uses GPSBabel as a plug-in to exchange data between many different file formats and GPS receivers. Just a great all around utility.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info Labtek! I did download Coordex but was unable to figure out how to exchange the information between the two. I'll take another look at the developers webpage to see if there is some sort of FAQ available to help me along. Thanks again!

You can post a question to the coordex dicussion forum ( http://www.hypercubed.com/megabbs/fo...view.asp?fid=3 ) or send me an e-mail ( coordex@hypercubed.com ). And BTW I am the developer.

That's handy to know. I'll give Coordex another try this weekend with my GPS and MP2004. If I get stuck I'll be sure to drop by your forums with my questions.... thanks Labtek!

Re: GPS Newbie question

Why do you bump this thread now? Your post seems like spam. Did you intend to post something in the commercial Announcements / Press Releases section?

If you don't give a good explanation, we'll just delete it. Welcome to the board anyway.
