Importing Zip Codes from Excel to MapPoint

Hi,
I'm trying to import an excel document into MapPoint. I'm very new to this software, so i have no clue how to make this work. I made an excel document with 2000 names of pumping units, and titled it "name" and then by each unit there is a zip code...which i titled "zip code"....How do i get this to import right? I won't import more than 8 at a time and then i don't know what it does with the rest. It's really becomeing a pain in the neck. I have 2 more weeks to get this prepared for our sales meeting.....PLEASE HELP!

Hi,
This might help.
Is it possible that you clicked on the Link Data Wizard instead of the Import Data Wizard.
The link wizard requires you to have a Primary Key (i.e. a unique reference) for each record, for example an account number. If no column designated as a primary key MapPoint will use your zip code. If there any double ups you will get the message that only 8 unique records have been mapped in this set.
The import wizard should sort the problem.

Hope this helps

Hi Jen

If you are only able to map 8 at a time it sounds like you are trying to map them as either shaded or sized circles.

If all of the zip codes are different (I take it the 200 locations all refer to different places) then you have to map them as PushPins.

Select the file you want to import and after the import has completed a "Map Type" dialog comes up. Select "Pushpin" (at the bottom) and in the next screen give it an appropriate symbol. This will then map all 200 in one go.

Hope this helps
