A while ago I had posted a message concerning the issue about running an application with or without mappoint being installed... the scenario was that I have a number of forms in my vb app that have the mappoint control on them, but I want to be able to run the application even if the pc does not have mappoint installed...

1. What is the best way to determine if Mappoint is installed on the pc, when my application starts up?

2. Is there a way to programmatically add a reference/component to a vb form? That way I can handle whether or not Mappoint is installed...

A couple of people had posted some good answers but I can't seem to find them now...

Probably the best technical solution for this would be the MapPoint .NET service though it does require that the desktop has an active Internet connection (preferably broadband).
