Pin Placement not allowed

This is a recurring issue...

Upon re-opening a saved map, I can no longer place pins anywhere on the map. The map is not re-only and no other occurrence of the map is open.

I can draw territories, etc. but cannot place any variation of pins. The only correction has been to restore the map from a previous backup.

Any ideas?

Hi,

It is not clear if you use mappoint stand alone version or using it programitally. Can you elaborate ?

Thank you for the help...I'm using it stand-alone, out of the box.

Process over any length of time:

1. open map, draw territories, place pins, etc., save it
2. open map, draw territories, place pins, etc., save it
3. open map, suddenly, the map will not allow pin placement and MapPoint crashes.

At this point, the map will no longer open and the only way I can now open the map to work on it is to restore it from a backup.

Have you tried re-installing MapPoint or repairing it?

The installation might have become damaged. This can happen in a variety of ways, including rogue software, bad hard-disk sectors, etc.
(running a hard-disk scan would be a good idea for the latter item)
