Can MP2K link with SQL 7.0 data dynamically?

Answer:

Yes. Use MapPoint to link to a SQL Server 7.0, Oracle or other OLE DB or ODBC database by using a Microsoft Data Link, file extension .udl . After you've installed MapPoint, right click on your desktop, then click New/Microsoft Data Link. A New Microsoft Data Link.udl file will appear on your desktop. Right click on the file and click on the Provider tab. Select the correct Microsoft OLE DB Provider which, if linking to a SQL Server, is Microsoft OLE BD Provider for SQL Server. Click Next and you will be prompted to enter your server name, password, and the name of the database on the server.

After you've set up your .udl file, open MapPoint. Click File, Link Data, and select Microsoft Data Link (*.udl) from the Files of Type drop down. Browse to your .udl and click Open to link to your database.
