  MAPPOINT Q & A

Top | Post New Question | Read All | MP2K Asks Microsoft

216 Rob Anderson - November 1, 2000

Is there a way to import other geographic boundaries (in this case health districts) into MapPoint? Our GIS unit currently uses AutoCAD Map and MapInfo, but we'd like to extend GIS capabilities to others in the organization. MapPoint looks like it could do the job as long as we can use our own boundaries.

Answer:

Microsoft will be making a number of GIS file converters available soon for ESRI and MapInfo file format. These converters are mainly meant as developer samples demonstrating the power of the MapPoint 2002 object model, but they will in fact add the functionality that you are requesting to the basic MapPoint product.
