I need to know if you have or know of an add-in for phone AREA CODE and EXCHANGE. In the Territories Wizard the same way you can choose zipcode I need to be able to select AREA CODE and EXCHANGE. Will you have this or do you know anyone that does ??

Thanks
Ed Perez

Answer:

The new Territories feature in MapPoint 2002 only works with boundaries included in our map - ZIP codes, counties, states, etc. There are no phone area codes or exhange boundaries in MapPoint. The only possible solution would be to find a data provider that has this boundary data in ESRI or MapInfo format. With the ESRI/MapInfo file converter sample code that Microsoft will be releasing soon, you could bring this data in and overlay it on the map. You could then for instance use these boundaries to extract data that was geocoded onto the map (on street address, ZIP, lat/long or some other geocoding supported by MapPoint) to Excel for analysis. But you would not be able to use these imported boundaries in the same way that you use MapPoint territories. MapPoint doesn't really know what these boundaries mean, they are just named drawing objects on top of the map.
