Can Mappoint import/display data source files that contain longitude latitude locations (GPS coordinates) and then place user defined symbols or pushpins at these coordinates?
Answer:
Yes, when you go to import or link to a data files, you just specify the column that contains the lat/lon, it is fairly simple.
What exact format are your "data source files" in? Text, Access, Excel, etc. should all work. MS is working on a developer sample that shows how to bring in GIS formats.
If it is GPS-outputted text files, in my experience, they are may not be real 'clean' in terms of having nice columns of data.
you may need to do some manual clean-up or if there are many
files you may consider scripting something in perl or another
text manipulation engine to clean up your files.
