286 Pat Connolly - July 26, 2001

Will MapPoint include UK political boundaries, particularly wards? and, if so, how much will they cost?

Answer:

The UK maps in the European version of MapPoint 2002 include the following boundaries: UK Constituent Countries, Postcode Area, Postcode District, Postcode Sector and County. Wards are not available as boundaries, and there is no way to add additional boundaries into MapPoint's base maps. The only possible solution would be to acquire ward boundaries in another GIS vector format, and bring this in via the object model. The result of this would be overlaid polygons (drawing objects) that can be used for point in poly queries, but since they aren't part of the base map, MapPoint doesn't recognize them for geocoding or as building blocks for custom territories.
