301 Eleanor Hall - August 1, 2001

Is there any way to add information, even using cut and paste, to the location under the legends? We would like to add our support personnel information to this location, and there is plenty of space there. Thank you.

Answer:

MapPoint controls what gets displayed in the legend pane. Unlike with the Office XP "smartpanes", there is no programmatic access to MapPoint's panes. This means that the only way to get data to display here is to feed it in as pushpin sets. To get support personnel details to show, I would create a dummy table in Excel ("John Smith, Western Region, (305) 567 3474"; "Next name...") and plot this on the map using some geographic marker (maybe state). If you don't want icons on the map for each of these records, create an invisible icon and use it as the custom pushpin for this set.

Once you have done this, the details of each of these people should show up in the legend.
