I appreciate your telling me I can create routes and directions from an intersection, but would you please tell me how? Thanks. As for the Roman Empire, it was just a fantasy!

Answer:

To create routes from an intersection, type in something like "12th St & Elm St, Detroit, MI" in the Find box just below the icon bar at the top of the screen. This should create a gray pushpin icon at the location on the map. Then right-click this pushpin icon and select Route > Add as Start from the pop-up menu. Do the same again for "17th St & Magnolia St, Detroit, MI" and make this the end of the route (Route > Add as End). Then use the Directions icon to calculate the route.
