I need to create a map with MapPoint that shows zip codes by colors. In other words, I have an area in Ohio and need to see where specific zip codes are. How do I do that?

Answer:

There are two easy ways to do this.

The first method is using the new Territories feature in MapPoint 2002. Start the Territory Wizard, click the "Create Manually" option, select ZIP Code as the geographic unit, and hit Finish. Then zoom into Ohio and create a territory for each of the ZIP codes you are interested in by selecting the 5-digit label on the map and assigning it to its own territory unit.

The second method is start Excel and to list all the ZIP codes you are interested in in one column (A), with a random number in the next colum (B), and importing this data into MapPoint using the Shaded Area mapping option.
