I want to create a pushpin data map that displays my customers/employees by Zip code but I do not want the State names to show. I just want a blank US shaped map to plot my data onto. Is there any way to do this is MP2002?

Answer:

Unfortunately, you don't have a great deal of control over which labels appear and which don't. MapPoint is pretty smart about working out what looks good, but the downside is that you can't override what it decides to show.

The only hints we can give you is to set the Map Font to "Smallest" and try each of the Map Styles available to you. The Data Map style is the cleanest, but the Political Map may be useful too. And, you could create a Shaded Area map with some randon data as a backdrop in a reddish color (close to the browny red color of the state labels) to make the labels less obvious.
