Regarding a question I sent yesterday about the source of Mappoint's 2002 demographic data, I am specifically interested in Hispanic population counts. In Mappoint 2001, a function is available to add demographics to a map. One of the options listed is "Population, Hispanic (1990)"
In Mappoint 2002, is this option updated to "Population, Hispanic (2000)"?
Answer:
No, the ethnicity data in MapPoint 2002 doesn't have projections for 2000 and 2005. The only Hispanic population data provided is "Population, Hispanic (1990)".
You can of course get a great deal of Census 2000 information free of charge from the Census web site - http://www.census.gov/population/www/estimates/countypop.html - and bring it into MapPoint yourself. And Claritas or others will sell it to you in neat Excel tables that save you the hassle of finding and formatting the data for use in MapPoint.
