434 Steve Boyd - October 15, 2001

I'm in the process of upgrading our network from NT4 to Win2k, and MapPoint clients from 2000 to 2002. When I install MP2000 on a Win2k machine, only users with administrative rights can run it, the rest get "registry not configured properly, re-run the installation" errors. Is this a known issue, and is there a solution besides upgrading MP?

Answer:

Don't think I can help you with this - my knowledge of MapPoint 2000 is very limited. I assume you have tried installing as a user rather than an administrator (probably won't let you do that). Some other Microsoft products suffered from similar problems a few years ago, and they have since been solved in upgraded versions, so I guess upgrading is the easiest solution.
