467 katie - October 30, 2001

I just downloaded the Tool Spatial data import tool, to let me import MapInfo and ESRI files into MapPoint. I get an error dialog saying the comgld32.ocx is not there and that I can not use the import tool. How can I fix this? Thanks, katie

Answer:

We've heard this from at least one other user. It probably means the utility requires an updated system file that is not present on your system. It may have been introduced as part of a Windows Service Pack or Internet Explorer update.

We've reported this to Microsoft, so it is being looked into. In the meantime, check in your Windows System folder to see if COMDLG32.OCX exists. On my PC, it is there - version number 6.0.84.18, dated Feb 22, 1999 - and the Spatial Import tool works. If the file is there, right-click it, check the version number via the Properties menu item, and email this information to website@mp2kmag.com so we can forward it to our contacts at Microsoft.
