Is there a developer's version of MapPoint Europe which can be customised for use on a website?

Answer:

There is no such thing as a developer's version of MapPoint. Each MapPoint 2002 product contains an Office-style application with an extensive object model and an ActiveX Control which can be embedded in VB6 applications. The Help files contain a programming reference to help you understand how you develop applications with either of these two components.

The license agreement of MapPoint prohibits use of the technology on a web server. This is unfortunate, but understandable given the fact that MapPoint contains thousands of dollars worth of licensed data. Microsoft is working on a MapPoint .NET web service which will presumably be the answer for people that want to use MapPoint in online applications.
