Is this possible with MapPoint ?
I am using the full version of MapPoint 2002. I am about to attempt a programming project with VB & MapPoint. I will take a list of data from a sql database (name, zipcode) and create a territory. I will then programatically add Zipcodes to the territory from another table in the SQL database joined by "name" -> territory name . The map would then be stored and used as part of a Visually workflow via the mappoint control on VB Form. The map would also be functional by providing editing capibilities of the territory and would be required to save the "changed data" back to the SQL Database table.
Looking at the Mappoint object model. I do not see a "Territory object" Nor do not see any functions that add or remove data from an existing territory. I do see two Functions LinkTerritories and ImportTerritories that appear to create new territories only. Am I missing something ?
Thanks !
Answer:
I don't think you are missing anything. Territories were just added in MapPoint 2002 and are not exposed very well in the object model. As far as I know, you cannot programatically create territories except through the 2 methods you have mentioned. After territories are created, there is very little information about them that is accessible through VB.
