I have a list of 200 newspaper customers that is in Excel. I geocoded them into MapPoint2002 no problem. Yet when I go to display the software says it can only display 8 records at a time. What do I have to do to display all 200 records?
Answer:
I think you may have selected the wrong type of map. Shaded maps will only show 8 distinct colors associated with some measure (number of points) and some geography (county, zip code, etc.). Show your data in a pushpin map instead.
Another possibility is that most of your records were actually skipped and not plotted at all. To check for this, right-click on the data's heading in the legend, and select "Properties". Click the "Matching" tab. Check the number unmatched and skipped. If you didn't get a dialog that showed problem records, you would probably see most of your records as unmatched, if this is your problem. Scroll down in the list of records and see what information it has. If MapPoint couldn't find your points, try using the "Find" functionality to see if MapPoint is having a problem matching your data to its data. That could give a clue to a problem with the format of your data.
