I am developing a VB application which calculates a route. If I know the current lat / long of a vehicle can I find the following 1. Has the vehicle left the route? 2. If on the route, what segment of the route is the vehicle currently on? Thanks Stew

Answers:

This would be very difficult to do programmatically. From the location associated with each segment on the route you can get the lat/lon of the center of the segment, but there is no simple way that I know of to determine whether any arbitrary lat/lon is within a speficied distance of the route.

It is easy to find out how far from the route a location is objRoute.DistanceTo( objLoc ) If anyone knows how to do the 2nd part I would like to know.
