[Background]
I am developing a demonstration system of security handset
with GPS receiver for Asian and European customers.
In this system, I will use MicroSoft MapPoint software to show the position on PC.
The MapPoint has good map data ( = street level maps that enough to demonstrate GPS positioning accuracy) for many countries except Taiwan and mainland China.
So, in case of these countries, I have to find a way to get good map
data.
[Questions]
1. Do you know of a source for Taiwan and mainland China maps which may be used with MicroSoft MapPoint ?
2. Do you know any map data conversion software which can produce map data for MicroSoft MapPoint ?
Answer:
As far as I know, there is no way to extend MapPoint with additional map data. You would have to speak directly with Microsoft to find out whether they have any plans for a Chinese version.
