755 Steve - June 26, 2002

Here is my situation. I have 3 crews and 94 job sites. I wanted to be able to input the 94 sites and for the program to tell how do you assign them to each crew in a way that is time efficient. How can I do that or is their another program? Please help. Thanks

There is no simple, out-of-the-box way to do this in MapPoint. MapPoint can optimize a route once you give it the stops, but it can't divvy up stops among multiple routes.

You would first have to come up with a separate mechanism to divide up the stops among the crews. Then you could optimize each route.

Steve Question follow up: Can you creat or divid it in three territories and make a route for each territory?

June 29, 2002
Yes, you can, but you wouldn't do it using MapPoint territories. Instead, separate the 94 sites into three lists or spreadsheets before importing them into MapPoint, then do the routing. This is less than an optimal approach to your original problem, but should get the job done. - Eric
