Java Sample Application for MapPoint .NET

Developers building Location based applications with the Java programming language now have a feature rich MapPoint .NET sample application to get them started. The application illustrates how to make SOAP calls to the MapPoint .NET XML Web service to integrate interactive maps, street-level geocoding, driving directions, and other location functionality into Java applications. The Axis SOAP library is used to handle making calls to the service and parsing results returned to the application. You can download the complete source code for the application, along with simple quick start instructions here:

Although the application utilizes the Java Swing libraries to provide a rich graphical user interface, the code that interacts with the MapPoint .NET service can easily be isolated from the UI to be used in any other Java environment. This allows developers building server-side applications on one of the many commercial Java-based application servers to leverage the same sample code.
