Microsoft to Pull MapPoint 2002 Off MSDN

On December 15, Microsoft will retire a range of legacy products from its MSDN Subscriber Downloads service, which the company designed to provide developer subscribers with access to its latest technologies and products. Citing its settlement with Sun Microsystems over the use of Microsoft-specific Java technologies in its products, Microsoft will pull BackOffice Server 2000, MapPoint 2002, Office 2000 suite and related products, Office XP Developer, SQL Server 7.0 and Windows 98 from MSN Subscriber Downloads, as all of these products include Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine (JVM).
