MSN MapPoint Launched
Yesterday, Microsoft launched MSN MapPoint, clearly positioned as an alternative to AOL's MapQuest.com site. MSN MapPoint uses the same MapPoint .NET Web Service that other MSN channels like Carpoint and HomeAdvisor started using a while back. Microsoft’s game plan is slowly becoming clear. The work of the MapPoint team is now being offered to users in new, high-visibility ways. It not only provides a great showcase for the net .NET technology, but also allows the MapPoint team to plug MapPoint 2002 and Streets & Trips 2002 as off-line clients using the same core technology. Although neither MapPoint .NET nor MSN MapPoint replace MapPoint 2002 in any way, shape or form, this increased attention can only be good news for MapPoint users. Read the MSN MapPoint launch press release. Some good coverage can be found at CNN and Internetnews.com as well as Directions Magazine.

MapPoint C# Sample Code and Examples
MPDemo is a program written by Wilfried Mestdagh that shows you how to use the most important API features using C#.
Using this application you can check out what you want to do and step with the debugger through it to see the code.
The code is written using separate classes in separate files as much as possible. Events are used at the places where a GUI update is needed.
You will get lifetime free upgrades of the source, even if the price will raise in future. Note that you must have Microsoft .NET version 2 installed to run the executable.
