MapPoint .NET Sample Application

The MapPoint .NET sample application for devices allows the user to retrieve interactive maps, driving directions, and to find points of interest such as hotels or service stations on their Pocket PC. For the developer, it illustrates how to interact with an XML Web Service, while highlighting some of the advantages Web Services bring to traditional application development. MapPoint .NET is Microsoft’s first commercially available XML Web service, providing location intelligence to your applications, be they Web based, mobile, enterprise, or traditional desktop applications.

The sample application is written in VB.NET using the beta release of the Smart Device Extensions for Visual Studio .NET targeting the .NET Compact Framework.
